About ilove7z

Last updated: September 4, 2026

ilove7z exists for one reason: archiving common files should not require uploading them to a stranger's server or installing another desktop app. We built a tool that does the real job of 7-Zip, right in your browser.

Why "never upload"?

Traditional online file tools upload your archive, process it on their server, and hand the result back — which means your data transits their network and often lingers in their logs. That is a poor default for anything personal, business-critical or confidential.

Modern browsers can run compiled native code through WebAssembly. We compile a genuine 7-Zip engine to WASM so the heavy lifting happens on your own machine. Your bytes stay local by construction, not by promise.

How it works under the hood

  • A real 7-Zip binary is compiled to WebAssembly and runs inside a Web Worker.
  • Your selected file is loaded into that worker's in-memory file system.
  • 7-Zip extracts, compresses or converts it there.
  • The resulting file is handed back to your browser for download — and then discarded.

What we do not do

We do not collect your files, do not require an account, do not watermark output, and do not put ads on our tool pages. We keep the experience fast, quiet and private.

Respect for creators

7-Zip and the LZMA compression algorithms are the work of Igor Pavlov and the open-source community. We are grateful to build on that. Our guide content never pushes pirated "activation" or unofficial builds of software — we point to the genuine projects and to open standards.
